You need to be physically active to be healthy. Being active helps your body function at its best. It also has mental and overall health benefits including reducing stress and improving your mood. According to the Department of Health, being physically active:

Reduces the risk of, or help manage, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD).
Reduces the risk of, and assists with rehabilitation from, some cancers.
Maintains and/or improves blood sugar levels, cholesterol, and blood pressure.
Assists with weight loss and prevents unhealthy weight gain
Builds strong bones and muscles.
Helps maintain and develop overall mental and physical well-being.

Create a fitness routine and make it a priority in whichever day you assigned it to. Pick an exercise or physical activity that you enjoy doing. This makes it easier to keep yourself constantly and consistently active.

To help you stay active and be healthy, here are 10 smart ways to motivate yourself to exercise!

1. Write down how you feel after a workout

Write down how you feel after a workout so when you are low on motivation, you can reread how great you felt after completing intense sets. This works because you know that at the end of the workout, you’ll feel the same amazing feeling again.

2. Give yourself small challenges

Enjoy challenging yourself by little challenges. For example, if you’re taking a 20-minute walk as an exercise, break it into 5-minute short walks. How does it work? If you’re two minutes away from finishing a five-minute walk, but would want to stop, push yourself to finish the full five minutes of it. By then you’ll be only a short distance from your marker so push yourself to reach that.

3. Wash your hair only after you work out

This is really useful for the ladies out there, but it could work for the guys, too!

If you don’t wash your hair for a couple days, everybody will notice. For that reason, you’ll be motivated to work out because that’s the only time you have to wash your hair.

4. Think about how much stronger you're getting

Think about how you will grow stronger and more conditioned every time you work out. It’s an amazing feeling to know that your body can now do something it couldn't do a just few weeks back.

5. Pretend there's a crowd wildly cheering you on

Visualise yourself as an athlete being cheered on by people and your fans. It would motivate you to give it your all to finish your workout. It’s embarrassing but it works.

6. Ask yourself whether you’ll regret skipping your workout or not

It’s a powerful question. As soon as you realise that you’ll regret skipping your workout, you’ll be more motivated to do it.

7. Think about how you’ll get to enjoy the healthy balance of nutritious food and satisfying exercise

Remind yourself that in order to maximise the benefits of a healthy diet, you have to create balance by working out, too.

8. Consider group fitness

Group fitness classes can help you look forward to seeing the other participants and your instructor, and their energy to keep you me going in the moments that you want to quit. Plus, you never want to be the person who quits and leaves early.

9. Make it a friend meetup
Another advantage of group fitness is that you can meet a friend who can work out with you even if there are no group sessions in schedule.

10. Surround yourself with motivation

Hang up motivational pictures in your house, room, or work station. Surround yourself with whatever motivates you to work out and  be active.

Conclusion - Stay tuned!

Resist the temptation to skip your exercise or physical activities. Don’t allow yourself to make excuses to avoid it. After all, it is not a chore, it is to feel good!
There’s more to this so stay tuned!
