Easy Ways We Can ALL Be More Environmentally Conscious

I was chatting with one of my amazing clients the other night and she was filling me in on some ways she and her partner remain environmentally friendly. It’s something that I have personally been a bit slack on, so I sat down and thought about some easy ways we can ALL be more environmentally conscious, and save a few bucks at the same time!

1. Use a reusable BPA free water bottle.

Did you know it takes three times the amount of water IN a plastic water bottle JUST to MAKE the plastic water bottle? Just grab a water filter jug for home and use that to top up your reusable water bottle, it will save a hell of a lot of rubbish (that usually doesn’t get recycled) as well as save you $$!

2. Make sure you take your reusable (preferably canvas) bags to the super market.

I know how easy it is to forget but each time you forget and you grab a couple extra 15c plastic ones (we have all done it) you not only contribute to excess waste, but also waste money too! Grab yourself some nice canvas bags and leave them i your car for next time you do your groceries!

3. Reuse your containers.

Doing a big food prep is awesome, but make sure you take your containers home and reuse them, or buy yourself some nice Pyrex or Tupperware ones that will last you YEARS instead of plastic ones that usually don’t last a week! It will save yourself a tonne in the long run!

4. Instead of using plastic bags for fruit & veggies, buy in bulk or just use the paper bags that are supplied for mushrooms.

Ok so this one won’t save much money but it’s certainly an easy way to use less plastic bags!

5. Get yourself a reusable coffee cup.

How many coffee do you drink per day? Now how many is that per week? And then work out how many coffee cups you throw out per year! You could easily reduce this by getting yourself a reusable coffee cup or travel mug (it would save you a tonne to make your coffee at home instead too!)

6. Buy in bulk where possible.

Doing this will save you a lot in the long run, but it also will reduce waste! Especially items that come in seperate packaging that way you eliminate seperate packaging, and save yourself some $$ too!

What are your best tips!
